Economic Rant

So Chris Dodd has come out suggesting we "nationalize" failing banks in the US.  I have always associated that word with tin-can dictators in third-world countries who seem to think they can will away the problems that plague their empire.  Unfortunately I think that is exactly what is happening here.  Leftists have always thought we squandered the opportunities to create a Utopian Empire here in the Land of Free and now they will have the chance to capitalize on the fear spreading through the country to move things closer to their Worker's Paradise.  His statement certainly had the effect of further destabilizing those banks and making them ripe for government takeover.

I can only see one other reason to use that particular word here.  Has anyone checked to see if Mr. Dodd or his associates have shorted a bunch of stock recently?  It's hard to imagine he didn't know how markets would react to that statement during such uneasy times.  I'm going to assume he's just being a good socialist and is not willing to do so much damage to enrich himself or others though...

Who am I?

I'm Craig :-)

No, really. I am a married father of 2 (soon to be 3) and a professional computer geek. Actually a computer geek who specializes in telephony stuff - particularly contact centers. I am a Heathen and a political conservative, which can be at odds occasionally. I enjoy motorcycles of the classic cruiser variety including Harley-Davidson and Triumph - though I am currently without a running ride. I have a small sailboat and I am learning to sail. I enjoy working on things - from woodworking to mechanical to computers. I have a ham radio license but I'm not an active ham. I'm sure I'm missing a lot of categories but I hope to fill out the picture of me and my chaotic mind with future posts…
